Is tutoring career suitable for me?

Tutoring can be rewarding if you are keen about educating the next generation who will shape the future. For home tuition, hourly rate can range from RM20 to Rm100 per hour, depending on your qualifications and experience. We believe this rate is really not bad.

Is it worth my time & effort to register with Gratutors?

While we cannot guarantee that you will be selected for tuition jobs, registration with us provides you an opportunity to establish a successful tutoring career. Typically, we notice some category of tutors receive more attention and tuition jobs from us besides having tutoring experience.

• Tutors who were straight 'A' students / scholars or having special academic awards and training
• Tutors who performed  average when they were in school, but are particularly strong in certain subjects and familiar with the local syllabus.
• Female tutors who can handle / patient with teaching young children, esp female students

Do not be discouraged if you do not belong to these categories, especially guys who performed average in school. Many tutors started a tutoring career when they first register with us.

I am already tutoring many students. Should I register?

How do I register as tutor?

Tutors can register by clicking on the link "Register for this site" or use your facebook credentials to register. When using facebook account, you will connect your facebook and gradtutors account together. Every time you login to facebook, you will automatically login to Gradtutors.my as well.

(2A) Tuition Job Application

I have registered as tutor. How can I be selected for assignments?

Selection of tutors is mainly based on decision made by students / parents. You may consider improving your tutor profile so that clients are more confident in hiring you. A profile with a photo is definitely more likely to be selected than profiles without photos. Clients have indicated b4 that they will only hire tutors who look decent.

Will the coordinator call me personally for available assignments?

Due to large number of tutors, we may not be able to call tutors individually. However, we may call you when clients express strong interest and you become a potential candidate for the available assignment.

(2B) Tutor Profile

Why can't I publish my contact details on my profile?

We do not allow tutors to publish any kind of contact details such as email address, phone numbers, or links to personal blog or external sites. By doing so, you will step on our shoes and prevent us from earning any profit. So, we have no choice but to remove your profile. This is done so automatically by bots and human effort. Essentially, we should be the middleman earning a revenue when we introduce your service to potential clients.

How do I hide my tutor profile from the frontend?

If you are concerned that your employer knows about your online profile, then just display your tutor ID instead of real name in your profile. You can also hide your photo so that only coordinators can view.

I saw my profile published online and searchable on search engines. How can Gradtutors protect my privacy?

Once you have updated your privacy settings to display a tutor ID, only your ID will be shown on your profile, your real name will be hidden but your profile is still published and searchable online.

How do I update / remove my tutor profile? [This is not frequently Asked. :]

Tutors can remove / edit their contact or tutor profile with the login information they have. Due to large number of tutors, our coordinators will not update your profile. Just login at the website and everything is quite straight forward.

*If the reason for deleting your profile is because you do not want your profile to be viewed by the public, then you can adjust privacy settings and display your username on profile instead.

I have removed my tutor profile but it is still searchable on search engines. What can I do?

We cannot do anything. The search engines, example Google will take about 2 weeks to few months to update their database. When Google next send their robots to crawl Gradtutors.my and realize that your tutor profile page no longer exist, Google will udpate their own index.

(2C) Payment of Salary & Agency Fee

Is the agency charging too much, 50% from my salary seems a lot?

This is the industry standard. In fact, the 50% is just one-off to cover our admin / marketing / other business cost. To many, we serve as an entry for you to establish a successful tutoring career. If you are truly professional in tutoring, there will be some referral from your own student network after some time.

What if I am not paid after providing my service to the student?

We rarely encounter this. Gradtutors will only be responsible for the initial tuition arrangement between you and the student. We will not know what happens after the 1st lesson and therefore, not in a position to judge whether you should be paid for your service by the student. However, we will be available to provide our opinion and support to resolve possible conflicts.

How is agency fee calculated and affect my salary?

Gradtutors will collect a one time agency fee from the student after 2 lessons have commenced. This amount is normally 50% of tutors' agreed salary (for 1 salary period) with the student. This fee is merely a deduction from the tutor's salary, there is no additional charges collected from the student side.

Example:

1 salary period consist of (4 lessons x 2 hours/lesson), with tuition fee = RM30/hr

Tuition agency fee = 50% x (8 hours x RM30) = RM120

(2D) User Account

How do I remove my Gradtutors account totally? [This is not frequently Asked. :]

There is no harm in keeping your Gradtutors account. If you no longer provide private tutoring service, you can choose to leave or remove your tutor profile, yet keep your main account information. This is useful especially when you want to download tutoring materials or start your tutoring service in the future.
